Good Posture Is Part Of Having A Healthy Body
December 20, 2009 at 3:35 pm | Posted in Professional Clogs | Leave a commentMost people think that if you tell them to stand up straight you’re teasing them but in reality you’re promoting good bone and body structure. Standing up straight isn’t about tensing or over stretching the arch in your back by pushing your shoulders back. The spine naturally has S curved shape that stretches from the base of your head to the bottom of your tail bone. A good reason for wanting to have good posture is so that when you get old you don’t wind up with a hump in your back like the character in the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
When sitting in a chair you should always sit with your back pressed against the back of the chair and avoid slouching where your but is not against the chair. You should also avoid slumping forward and keep your shoulders straight. Having your feet planted firmly on the ground in front of you really helps a lot with your sitting posture.
When standing your legs shouldn’t be locked and most of your weight should be on the balls of your feet and not on your heels. Your chin should be tucked in and your head straight with your about shoulder with apart. If standing isn’t comfortable you may want to visit your podiatrist to have custom made orthodontic or recommend specific shoes.
